MICAH SOMMERS
Deputy Director
The Opportunity Network
Micah is Deputy Director of The Opportunity Network. Before that, Micah spent over four years as Program Director and later Interim Executive Director of New York SCORES, an after-school soccer and poetry program serving elementary school children in Washington Heights and Harlem. Before New York SCORES, he held management positions at several Internet companies.
Micah graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a B.A. in American Studies and wrote his thesis on the gentrification of San Francisco's Mission District and its effects on local businesses and immigrant populations. Out of college, Micah started Bread & Butter, a non-profit culinary arts training program for low-income high school youth in San Francisco.
